This is an excellent entry of 2010 National Geographic Global Photo Contest China region, shot by photographer Zhou Hai at frozen Sayram Lake in Xinjiang, China. Transparent blue ice protrudes from the lake ice, with broken ice strips extending to the distance. Snow-capped Tianshan Mountains, coniferous forests and clear blue sky form a magnificent, pure winter alpine lake landscape.
