This is the classic representative work *The Pay of the Harvesters* by French realist painter Leon Lhermitte. It depicts rural harvesters gathering in the farmyard to get their payment after busy farming work. The exhausted old farmer with a scythe, breastfeeding mother holding a baby and other laborers are portrayed delicately and realistically, full of empathy for ordinary bottom workers. It is a classic 19th century French rural labor themed oil painting.
