This is a satellite image of the New York metropolitan area taken from space, recording thick smoke rising from the original World Trade Center site after the 911 attacks in 2001. The smoke drifted eastward over the Atlantic Ocean with wind. The image fully shows New York's urban areas, Hudson River estuary, surrounding islands and Atlantic coastline, which is a precious historical documentary remote sensing work.
