This is an excellent entry from 2010 National Geographic Global Photography Contest China region, shot by photographer Xuan Jianing. It shows the unique desert landscape in China: huge golden sand dunes form smooth light and shadow stripes under sunlight, a clear oasis lake lies at the foot of dunes, sparkling in the sun, with swaying golden reeds in the foreground, presenting the magnificent quiet beauty of coexistence of water and life in desert.
