This is an excellent entry of 2011 National Geographic Global Photo Contest China Region, shot by photographer Lin Xu. It shows typical red Danxia landform in northwest China, with layered crimson steep mountains along the clear turquoise plateau lake. The foreground is gentle slope covered with sparse drought-resistant vegetation, distant mountains fade into light blue in mist, presenting magnificent natural beauty.
